Last year it was all about Hygge, candle sales were up and everyone was wearing luxe knits in a bid to create this difficult to pronounce cosy feeling. So what’s happened to Hygge this year, well it’s still around, I went into a well known high street store recently and they had a Hygge section which consisted of a lot of candles and some ludicrously expensive bed socks. However, this Winter, perhaps in line with the chaos going on in the world, it’s all about Lagom.
As the title says above, Lagom means “just the right amount”, it’s about creating a better, happier and more balanced everyday lifestyle, becoming less stressed at work and engaging in our hobbies more. It’s about living sustainably by saving energy and water and by creating less waste and recycling more but not necessarily depriving yourself of all of lives luxuries.
So how can our flooring help you achieve Lagom? These days many more of our customers are asking about the ethical merits of the flooring we offer and in response to this, many of the manufacturers are producing Eco friendly ranges. Alternative Flooring’s Eco Collection is the first bio-degradable carpet launched in the UK and is hand woven 100% wool. Their Barefoot collection provides a deep pile for you to walk on with understated natural elegance.
Natural carpets have always been popular but this year in particular we have seen a surge in orders. Natural flooring is spun from either plants, husks or grasses bring a tropical natural element into your home. This beautiful flooring is available in many different styles and weaves ensuring you have plenty of choice and contrary to popular belief, they do also make beautiful stair runners!
