Carpet & floor covering specialists

Flooring and window dressing traditionally go hand in hand, they are the finishing touches that complete your room!

We have struggled for ages to find a blind to complete our own bedroom due to it's church style shape.  In the past blind fitters suggested hanging a standard blind in front on the window, however we wanted to show the shape of the window - not hide it! We were therefore so pleased when we met Zoe from Point to the Window, Zoe came to our house, made a template of the window and showed us an extensive range of fabric choices.  The result was the most perfect blackout blind which looks great and also means we are sleeping in past 5am!

Point to the Window provide bespoke curtains, blinds and soft furnishings and specialise in beautiful blackout solutions.  By using blackout lining they aim to improve your, or your children's chances of a good nights sleep, alongside friendly and personal service to select the right fabric and dressing for the windows in your home.

Here are Zoe's tips if you're considering blackout blinds or curtains...

High and wide

Think about the amount of space around your windows.  Going as high and wide as possible will help to maximise the blackout effect.  This might mean installing a ceiling fixed track with floor length curtains, or using a pole a fair bit wider than the window.

Inside or out

Roman and roller blinds can be placed inside or outside of window recesses.  Roman blinds can be made to fit as snugly as possible.  Roller blinds generally have a little bit more of a gap at the top and sides.  If you want to fit a roman blind outside the recess to make a feature of your window, we recommend adding 10cm to the width of the blind.

Double up

If you really want to maximise the blackout effect doubling up your window dressings can be a good option.  Dress or full-width curtains can work well with blinds, creating a lovely layered look and the chance to use two complementary fabrics.
